Global real estate company CBRE has invited RoSPA CEO Errol Taylor to an internal awards ceremony to celebrate the success of its property management teams from all around the UK in the 2022 RoSPA Awards. Hosted at CBRE’s new headquarters, Henrietta House in Westminster, the company’s Property Management and Health & Safety professionals were invited to collect their awards in person in recognition of their achievements.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is calling on employers to make a real difference to people’s lives on World Day for Safety and Health at Work, by taking part in our free Fall Fighter initiative. Every April 28, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) observes its World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The initiative, which began in 2003, is an international campaign promoting safe, healthy and decent work around the globe.

Jangro, the UK and Ireland’s largest network of independent janitorial suppliers, has recently enhanced its Enviro H6 General All Purpose Sanitiser with a new and improved formula. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has today released its annual figures for the number of work-related fatalities in 2019/20, as well as the number of people known to have died from the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma, in 2018. The provisional annual data for work-related fatal accidents revealed that 111 workers were fatally injured at work between April 2019 and March 2020 (a rate of 0.34 deaths per 100,000 workers), the lowest year on record. This represents a fall of 38 deaths from the previous year, though it is likely that this fall was accentuated by the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19) on the economy in the final two months of the year.

Social distancing means keeping people apart to help reduce the spread of coronavirus. Where possible you should keep people 2m apart. If this is not viable, keeping 1m apart with risk mitigation is acceptable. In the UK some rules such as social distancing may be different in each of the devolved nations. However, HSE regulates in all of these countries

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is carrying out further spot inspections at businesses in Oldham and Pendle to ensure all workplaces are COVID-secure as coronavirus cases continue to rise in the areas. HSE inspectors are busy calling and visiting businesses across all different sectors in both areas putting employers on the spot and ensuring they are COVID-secure.

Cooperation between the United Kingdom Lubricants Association (UKLA) and HSE has led to a revised version of the UKLA Good Practice Guide for the Safe Handling and Disposal of Metalworking Fluids being published. This is a comprehensive guide giving advice on how to maintain metalworking fluids to prevent ill-health in machine workshops.
