A MITSUBISHI dealership in Leeds has appointed a Fleet & Finance Manager – and he’s raring to go in the new post!
John Mann has joined Luscombe Mitsubishi, in Low Road, Hunslet, having been in the motor trade for 26 years with various brands and in various positions, latterly as a Sales Director, so has plenty of experience.
‘It was time for a change and this job just seemed to make sense. It’s exciting!’ he said. ‘Mitsubishi is very keen to progress with fleet. There seem to be one or two main dealers out there that get most of the fleet business and the rest doesn’t, so we need to get our share of that. I’ve been working with the fleet guys to the side of me but not actually been out into the world of getting the orders, so I’m sure it’ll be good fun and very challenging. I know it’s not going to be easy but I’ll certainly be giving it a good go!’
The 47-year-old is also ensuring that compliance with the new Financial Conduct Authority regulations – following the recent shake-up that saw it take over regulating the consumer credit industry from the Office of Fair Trading – is, as he puts it, ‘crisp’. He said: ‘We do quite a lot of finance but it needs tweaking a little bit. It’s basically getting some processes in place to just tighten up what’s already a good job done but we can do better.’
He explained what he enjoys about his job. ‘It’s that excitement of going out there and getting that sale. And I enjoy guiding people. There’s nothing nicer than when you’ve spent two hours with a customer and they say: “Well, we didn’t expect to buy a car today and you haven’t pressurised us.” If they see it that way and have bought a car you’re doing good.’
John, who is married with one daughter, said that in his spare time he enjoys going out to dinner and walking with their dogs. ‘I’m really lucky. I like the outdoor life, and spending time with my family is important to me. I’m very happy with that,’ he said.
