Kier’s facilities management business has added to its growing list of clients in the education sector after winning a new three-year contract to provide total FM services to Westminster Kingsway College in London. With an overall value of £3m, the contract will enable the College to reduce its operating costs and to provide a more efficient service across four sites in central London. Kier will now provide the College with a package of FM services including asset and building maintenance, cleaning, security and grounds maintenance at sites in Victoria, King’s Cross, Soho and Regent’s Park. Kier will provide a host of administrative functions that includes managing the College’s mailroom and booking meeting rooms and taxis. The contract also includes an optional extension of up to four years that will be awarded subject to performance. Managing director of Kier’s FM business, Bill Taylor, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract to work with Westminster Kingsway College. The team worked hard on the bid process and we look forward to delivering real savings and a more streamlined service to help the College operate more effectively.” “Kier has a wealth of experience and a strong track record in the sector, which will stand us in good stead for the future. As a large employer with many trainees and apprentices, we will also be discussing how we can work with the college in future to deliver training and employment opportunities.” The contract was awarded to Kier after a competitive tendering process that took into account Kier’s previous experience working with 14 Oasis Academies across the country, as well as schools in Waltham Forest and Kent. Andy Wilson, principal at Westminster Kingsway College, said: “We are committed to achieving best value and keeping our running costs to a minimum. Appointing Kier will enable us to deliver more efficient operating systems and invest more time and resources into front-line services for the benefit of our students.”
