New Investment Boost For Waste Managers

A recession-busting £500,000 waste transfer site development by Fareham-based Cleansing Service Group (CSG) is now open for business. The facility on the Quarry Wood Industrial Estate, Aylesford, Kent, meets the need for a specialist waste transfer and treatment station in the South-East able to accept a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous waste types from a wide range of public and private sector industrial and commercial organisations. Until now, waste collected by CSG in the area has been transported to Manchester and Dorset for treatment and disposal. But providing transfer facilities at Aylesford means waste can be assessed and treated on site, or stored, bulked up and transported on larger vehicles to its final destination. This reduces the number of lorries on the UK’s overstretched road network and the miles they travel, thereby cutting carbon emissions. CSG managing director Neil Richards said: “The Aylesford site has been developed to better cater for our customers in the South-East by providing them with a local facility to handle all their waste disposal needs. “Dealing with the waste close to where it is actually produced is a much more environmentally sustainable way of dealing with it.” CSG, which is one of the UK waste industry’s fastest growing companies, already operate a nationwide network of specialist treatment facilities as well as what is believed to be the UK’s largest hazardous waste treatment and recovery facility at Cadishead, Manchester.
