Stannah moving walkways take Lincoln superstore to a new level

Sainsbury’s superstore in central Lincoln is a popular shopping destination as it provides everyday essentials and a shopaholic’s paradise all under one roof. Extended and refurbished in 2010 the store maximises retail space with the use of a mezzanine level, growing the whole area to a little under 100,000 sq. metres. Superstore customers can purchase food, homeware, electrical goods, clothing, toys , entertainment and more … in a single shopping trip. Access to the new level is via two centrally-located Stannah moving walkways that sedately take customers and their shopping trolleys to and from the upper floor. Ample space around the units ensure easy entry and exit for shoppers and the moving walkway bed and trolley wheels lock together to ensure safe travel. An annunciator provides prompts for mounting and dismounting the equipment safely too. The mezzanine level is home to a newly extended clothing range for all the family and every occasion and a brand new restaurant to relax in when the shopping is completed. With footfall running at more than 40,000 customers per week in this popular shopping haven, the moving walkways are constantly on the go. Should there be a quieter period, the equipment automatically slows to reserve energy.
