Therapeutic matting
Heronrib matting, manufactured by Plastic Extruders Ltd, is being enjoyed by visitors and patients at a new physiotherapy pool in an orthopaedic rehabilitation hospital in Athens, Greece. The matting is installed throughout the tiled pool area, the access steps, pool surrounds, walkways and showers in order to provide a safe surface which is slip resistant, warm and comfortable to stand on. Cable ties have been used to secure the matting on the steps to ensure they remained stable for users – even when covered with water. Heronrib is manufactured from hardwearing non-porous vinyl with a two layer open grid construction and channelled underbars to help water drain away easily in all directions. The matting has an embossed slip resistant surface and impregnated anti-bacterial and anti-fungal additives. This ensures that it is not only safe underfoot but also hygienic for bare feet because it reduces the risk of cross-contamination. It also makes it ideal for use in hospital, healthcare and other hygiene-sensitive environments. The matting, available in several colours, is supplied in 10m long rolls and widths of 50cm, 1m and 1.22m.
