The new Phoenix Restaurant

The new Phoenix Restaurant at the National University of Ireland (NUI) campus in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, is clad with hundreds of metres of grey MEG exterior grade high pressure laminate from ABET LAMINATI The new €4m restaurant, designed by architects Coady Partnership, comprises a 450 seat restaurant as well as two cafés and meeting rooms located around a new plaza. Abet’s MEG range is a self-supporting high pressure laminate (HPL) for cladding the exterior of buildings, balconies and other applications. In addition to 23 traditional plain colours, Wood finishes and simulated-concrete colours, MEG Metal is also available in a choice of five colours. MEG is also now able to incorporate Abet’s digital printing technology. This means that almost any design, photograph or pattern can be reproduced in stunning detail to give architects and designers unparalleled freedom to create unusual and dramatic building facades. MEG is a solid grade, load-bearing, high pressure laminate which carries a BBA Agrément Certificate. Its high physical and technical performance means that it can withstand all types of weather and temperature, as well as being resistant to strong UV light, acid rain, abrasion and damage. The chemical composition and the closed structure of the panels provides a graffiti-resistant surface which can be cleaned using normal cleaning agents.
