The driver behind this has been the 12% increase Union has seen in orders from companies looking to replace foreign made doors.

Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of bespoke industrial roller doors, has fitted the final piece in the jigsaw in a Lincolnshire firm’s investment to refurbish one of its industrial freezers. QK Cold Stores (Marston), which provides short and long-term freezer storage for supermarkets and food producers, has overhauled one of its freezer chambers. Operations at QK Cold Stores (Marston), which is five miles north of Grantham, include extensive blast freezing, defrosting, food handling, and frozen and chilled storage areas.

Announced at its recent AGM, the employee-owned company has placed innovation at the core of its growth strategy and is growing its Research and Development (R&D) department as it develops new industrial door solutions. The company produces a range of fast-acting internal and external roller doors, which are used in locations such as mega distribution and customer fulfilment centres and in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food, manufacturing, pharmaceutical and warehousing.

Located in Milton Keynes, the unit supports Union Industries’ growing portfolio of customers across the Midlands and south of England with planned maintenance and fast response reactive services. Moving into a larger facility, which is manned by a team of experienced engineers, enables Union Industries to increase its stockholding of spare parts, ensuring service and repairs can be delivered quickly to minimise downtime.

Union Industries has demonstrated the collaborative approach it delivers for the specification and installation of its high-speed roller doors with a project for Recticel Insulation. The construction insulation materials manufacturer engaged with Union Industries as part of a lengthy and detailed specification programme to replace three existing roller doors fitted within an extension to its factory in Stoke. These doors were proving costly to run, particularly because of forklift truck damage, which impacted productivity and caused heat loss in the warehouse. This was made worse by the doors being out of operation for long periods when deliveries of replacement parts were delayed.

Union Industries has manufactured its largest ever rapid roll freezer door as part of a multi-door project for a giant distribution centre on the south coast. The Yorkshire-based manufacturer has supplied six of its Eiger Doors to Uniserve’s new 750,000 square foot ambient and freezer distribution centre less than a quarter of a mile from the Port of Felixstowe. Located on a 28-acre site, the multi-million-pound fulfilment centre, which is opening in summer 2021, will be BRC food grade accredited, bonded for both wet and dry goods in transit. Amongst its facilities will be a 100,000 square foot cold store and an 17,000 pallet spaces of frozen storage.

Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has completed a supply and installation project at Ragus Sugars, which manufactures bulk pure sugars for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical markets. This is the second time that Leeds-based Union Industries has replaced a door at the Slough site of Ragus, which has been in business for more than 90 years. The company has been so impressed with Union’s doors that is has subsequently placed an order for a second Ramdoor for its facility.

A satisfied customer has returned to Union Industries for the fitting of a second high speed industrial door to enable it to keep production noise to a minimum, while transporting raw materials and products in and out as efficiently as possible. Arbor Forest Products, the UK’s leading independent timber importer and processor, which is based in Barrow Upon Humber, offers a bespoke milling service with the ability to process orders in 10 days. It also turns imported wood into cladding and shed material, primed MDF mouldings, roofing battens, structural and landscaping timber and decking.

Union Industries, the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-speed industrial doors, has completed one of its largest individual projects with the supply and installation of 40 of its rapid-roller doors at Princes Group UK’s (Princes) food production site in Long Sutton. Having supplied Princes with more than 100 high-speed industrial doors across seven of its sites since 2010, Leeds-based Union Industries has installed a further 40 rapid-roller doors at its Long Sutton site near Spalding in Lincolnshire.
