PHS Waste Management, one of the UK’s leading hazardous waste management companies, has announced the launch of its latest service. The new battery collection and recycling service has been specifically designed to offer customers a simple solution to ensure their compliance with the latest waste legislation.
The Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009 come into full effect on the 1st of January 2010, placing strict rules on the manufacture, labelling and disposal of all forms of batteries. The aim is to increase the volume of batteries that are recycled each year and prevent such waste going to landfill.
PHS Wastemanagement is offering to provide any existing customer with a free container and scheduled collection service as part of their existing hazardous waste services, to ensure that any household batteries they have are dealt with safely, legally and easily. As Clare Noble Managing Director comments:
“We’re delighted to be able to offer this free of charge service to our customers. We always strive to offer our customers simple and cost-effective services to help them meet the challenge of new waste regulations and I’m pleased that we are able to demonstrate this commitment with our new, free battery recycling service.”
As part of the service, customers will receive a free battery collection box, designed in conjunction with BatteryBack, the UK’s leading battery compliance scheme. This distinctive container offers an easily identifiable solution to help sites correctly segregate and store waste batteries. Alongside the Hazcrate, fluorescent lighting and aerosol recycling services already offered by PHS Wastemanagement, this service will help sites deal with any common forms of hazardous waste safely and in an environmentally responsible way.
