A driver training academy in Turkey has become the first organisation to achieve a new advanced level of accreditation from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
GiS Akademi, in Istanbul, has secured RoSPA’s Accreditation with Trainer Certification – Plus.
Recently launched, this driver and rider training credential is awarded to companies that provide high quality services. RoSPA looks at how training is delivered, the certification of trainers, and the quality of facilities.
GiS impressed with its high standards and GiS Park – a complex with off-road driving tracks for cars, motorbikes, large goods vehicles (LGVs) and passenger carrying vehicles (PCVs), such as buses and coaches. There are also motorcycle garages, a driving school and a seminar room on-site.
Along with advanced driver training, GiS offers courses in defensive driving, to help motorists learn the skills to avoid accidents; and eco-driving, which enables people to be more fuel-efficient.
Frances Richardson, director of operations at RoSPA, said: “GiS has achieved this new higher level accreditation for a variety of reasons, including that it has superior facilities. Its centre has a road layout and dedicated training rooms specifically to educate drivers.
“We are delighted that GiS has gained this sought-after accreditation as along with good training standards, this organisation reflects RoSPA’s ethos of being committed to improving road safety.”
Halil Kiliç, founder and administrator of GiS Academy, said: “Unfortunately, accidents happen all too often in Turkey, which is why we decided to work with RoSPA – a leading name in road and occupational safety expertise.
“We are proud to become the first organisation in the world to gain Accreditation Plus, and hope to continue improving through the advice we have received from RoSPA. GiS Academy is involved with a range of vehicles, including motorcycles and lorries, and has found the education on road safety particularly useful in striving to make GiS Park as safe and advanced as it can be.”
Accreditation with Trainer Certification – Plus is valid for three years and suitable for larger organisations that are able to provide its services in-house and in-company, or organisations providing high speed driver training.
Some companies gaining this achievement may also be offered the opportunity to provide training directly to RoSPA clients.
RoSPA is widely-recognised and respected as a leading name in road safety and accident prevention with nearly 100 years of expertise. Its accreditation certificates provide companies with an impartial and independent quality assurance which can increase credibility with customers, the public and staff.
