From 1 January 2014 all members of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers’ Association (CHSA) that manufacture soft tissue products, plastic refuse sacks or industrial cotton mops must be approved members of the relevant Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Scheme. “We understand that for customers it can be unclear as to whether or not a manufacturer in the CHSA is a member of the relevant Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Scheme and we are acting to remove this uncertainty,” explained Stephen Harrison, Chair of the CHSA and Managing Director of Harrison Wipes. “The Accreditation Schemes were introduced to raise standards in the industry and we are extremely proud of all they have achieved; by buying from a member of one of the Schemes you can be certain you are getting a product that is fit for purpose.” During 2013 every manufacturing member of the CHSA not currently a member of the relevant Scheme is to go through the accreditation process. The Schemes’ auditor is visiting the manufacturing sites, testing the products and assessing the manufacturing processes. If the company passes the assessment process it will be admitted to the relevant Scheme and if it ultimately fails it will no longer be accepted as a member of the CHSA. The Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Schemes for soft tissue products, plastic refuse sacks and industrial cotton mops make sure customers reliably get what they believe they are paying for by guaranteeing three essential things: • Consistency of supply: customers receive what they order; • Accurate labelling: customers get what they pay for; • Fully audited manufacturers: our standard, your guarantee.
