The bestselling Gesture chair, made by Steelcase, has won the prestigious FX Award in the Workplace Seating category for its innovative design and impressive engineering.
Gesture is the first chair designed to support our interactions with today’s technologies. It was inspired by the movement of the human body and created for the way we work today.
Gesture is designed to support a person’s individual posture as it changes while they are at work – whether they are using a conventional keyboard, smartphone or tablet.
The FX Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in global interior design and it was the modern elements of Gesture’s design, its engineering and flexibility to the modern way of working that impressed judges. Lawrence Morison, Vice President of Sales for Steelcase in the UK, said: “We are thrilled Gesture won this prestigious award. From the start, we realised we had not designed just another chair, but one that actually addressed the needs of workers using various technologies and devices. “The development of the Gesture chair was the result of a world-wide research effort, which informed us of the need to accommodate the body movements that technology users are adopting at work. We are very proud of it.”
