There is millions of pounds of funding for training but according to Kim Bendzak, Managing Director of award winning, accredited construction training company, Apple Construction Training, many are failing to take advantage of these grants and need to act urgently if they’re to have the skills in place to compete for the Government’s £33 billion a year infrastructure investment projects. Bendzak, who recently won Most Established Business and Most Inspirational Women Business Owner in the Banbury Women in Business Awards, provides advice on funding for training: • Funds are available for a range of skills at all levels including CPCS, NVQ or apprenticeships • For example, companies with a CITB-ConstructionSkills Levy number can increase Level 2 Plant NVQ funding to £610 per person to up-skill from a red to a blue CPCS card. CPCS is still funding the three plant categories – A, B & C plant – for CPCS tests at £600, £480 and £300. • Your training provider should offer funds in addition to some grants. We offer an extra £500 on top of the CPCS grants. • Use an accredited training provider that checks your eligibility for funding before training starts and is flexible enough to train you and your workers anywhere.
