Jo Morgan, a senior HR manager for Sodexo Prestige, has been named In-House Recruiter of the Year at this year’s Recruiter Awards for Excellence. The award was in recognition of her role in the company’s “Be More than a Spectator” recruitment campaign which was used to recruit 3,500 staff for the London 2012 Olympics. Jo was responsible for the design and the implementation of the recruitment strategy. The campaign to find enough employees to fill the one million working-hours began in 2011. Jo and her team visited 16 university fresher fairs up and down the country as well as all of the host boroughs in London, ensuring that every candidate, many of them students, received a face-to-face interview. Once recruited, the 3,500 employees had to be kept engaged, in some cases, for up to eight months, in the run up to the Games. Jo and her team used social media such as Facebook and Twitter to great effect, and built a website that integrated Sodexo Prestige’s existing applicant tracking system, making the process easier for candidates. Jo said: “Recognition for a project you care so much about is always nice, but being recognised for assisting with an event that meant so much so many people, is something truly special.” Chris John, managing director, Sodexo Prestige and Corporate Services, said: “I am delighted to hear that Jo has received this well deserved recognition. We are very much indebted to Jo and her team who did an exceptional job. We are very proud of these achievements.”
