Brammer Buck & Hickman named as PPE Supplier by Crown Commercial Service
Brammer Buck & Hickman, the UK’s leading supplier of industrial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) products and services, has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Building Materials and Equipment RM6157 Framework Lot 7, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Brammer Buck & Hickman is one of just 18 suppliers that has been awarded supplier status for Lot 7.
CCS supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2020/21, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £2.04bn – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
Employers urged to use free fall prevention resource on World Day for Safety and Health at Work
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is calling on employers to make a real difference to people’s lives on World Day for Safety and Health at Work, by taking part in our free Fall Fighter initiative.
Every April 28, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) observes its World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The initiative, which began in 2003, is an international campaign promoting safe, healthy and decent work around the globe.
Warning over new PPE regulations
One of the UK’s leading PPE suppliers is warning businesses of a change in personal protective equipment law which could catch them out if they are not prepared.
From 6 April 2022, the Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 2022 will extend employers’ PPE duties, requiring them to provide appropriate equipment for free to casual workers, who were not previously covered under the same regulations that have been in force since 1992.
‘Cash in the cardboard’ for a revenue boost
Businesses are being urged to ‘act quickly’ and turn their used cardboard into a new revenue stream as cardboard prices in the UK remain high.
“Many businesses are missing a trick when it comes to how they manage their waste, in particular their waste cardboard, which is now a valuable commodity in the UK,” said Jason Smith, Managing Director of phs Wastekit, which supplies cardboard baling machines to businesses across the UK.
“There is real money to be made from selling baled cardboard, yet many businesses are paying someone else to take it away for them! The demand for cardboard since lockdown has been huge but businesses are overlooking the opportunities it has created for them, which can be a costly mistake.”

CHSA: Seeking applicants for the 2022 CHSA Undergraduate Bursary
The search for three motivated and talented young people to receive financial support from the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s 2022 Undergraduate Bursary is now on.
The successful applicants will join the 14 young people who have already benefited from the financial support. The Bursary is £4,500. It is paid in three installments, £1,500 being paid at the beginning of each academic year or the first three years if the degree is longer.
