phs Group acquires Lindström’s floorcare business

Facilities services provider phs Group has bolstered its floorcare business with the acquisition of the floorcare and associated hygiene services division of workwear and industrial wiper rental services firm Lindström UK.

With more than 50 years’ experience providing floorcare services across the UK, phs offers market-leading floor mats with a quality service across all sectors. It will acquire the floorcare business of Lindström which has traditionally provided spill and absorbent mats for industrial and commercial organisations. phs will take on all of Lindström’s floorcare customers, effective from September 21.

phs’ range of floorcare products help create clean and safe working environments, including anti-slip mats, ‘first defence’ entrance and lift mats to prevent dirt entering buildings and branded messaging mats. phs has also recently launched a new range of Covid-19 messaging mats to support organisations implement social distancing measures.

Customers are not only securing a practical solution by choosing a phs floor mat but are also playing a part in tackling ocean plastic pollution. Since 2017, all phs‘ fitted and loose lay mats are created from ECONYL, a regenerated nylon made from discarded fishing nets. Making up 46% of ocean plastic waste and taking up to 600 years to degrade, these ghost nets ensnare and kill marine animals including fish, turtles, dolphins and whales. But volunteer divers rescue these discarded nets from the sea and they are recycled into ECONYL, made into floor mats for phs.

Lindström has been operating in the UK since 2001, with 150 employees at sites including Bedford, Manchester, and Bradford, and serves over 4,000 customers.

This includes investing over £11m to build a brand-new laundry in Bradford to create a truly sustainable solution for industrial wipers.”
