There’s no question that employers recognise the benefits of a healthy and team-focused workforce. But for many businesses there’s a belief that it is prohibitively expensive to engage external resources. Tackling this challenge is HealthyTeams, an innovative new concept which brings over 20 years’ of experience in occupational health and employee wellbeing to the delivery of team based organisational wellbeing challenges. Crucially, HealthyTeams is accessible to employers of all sizes, costing around £500 for the creation of a team challenge, with no restriction on the number of participants. HealthyTeams applies a web-driven approach to creating team challenges that tackle health and wellbeing issues. The fixed fee per challenge gives employers access to the Healthy Teams’ web portal enabling them to run team based organisational wellbeing challenges efficiently and effectively. Each challenge lasts four weeks and can be used to bring a wellbeing strategy to life or simply run a fun based event. Participating teams can track and compare their progress on the HealthyTeams portal, which also shows the organisation’s overall progress. The tracking facility also allows employers to award prizes, recognising team members who have made a special effort to improve their personal, team and corporate health and wellbeing. And importantly, the Healthy Teams experts are on hand to support each organisation and its people and give them the confidence and motivation to get the best out of the programme. The HealthyTeams challenges include Weight Loss, Get Active, Resilience, Get Active Charity and the Workplace Cycle challenge. “Team challenges are a powerful way to enable organisations to implement employee wellbeing programmes to drive business improvements in tough times,” explains Mark Holt-Rogers, who designed the Healthy Teams concept. “Our challenges are fun, easy to administer, proven to engage staff and get results. “Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation NHS Trust ran the weight loss challenge and lost nearly 40 stone (250kg) with the top team losing 22.78kg (3.58 stone) over the four-week period. This is a clear illustration of the power of team wellbeing challenges and Healthy Teams supports businesses in making significant changes.” All organisations, regardless of their size, can take a proactive approach to staff wellbeing with Healthy Teams. By setting personal health challenges, businesses can greatly improve employee morale and retention, reduce presenteeism, reduce healthcare costs and improve productivity. “We understand that employers worry that engaging employees in wellbeing can be costly and have implications on internal resources. To address this we have built challenges that are easy to run and, at around £500 per Challenge, are definitely low cost.” concluded Mark Holt-Rogers. “With access to podcasts and videos explaining how to exercise safely and effectively, we provide organisations with the tools they need to implement small changes that will benefit the health and productivity of their workforce. Investing in healthy and resilient teams means smart employers are building a healthy and resilient business, which is crucial in today’s competitive market.”
