The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) has incorporated the Competition and Markets Authority’s Green Claims Code into its Code of Practice. Lorcan Mekitarian, Chair of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association, explained: “Sustainability is a challenging and complex issue. Integrating the Green Claims Code into our Code of Practice shows the commitment of our members to embrace environmental sustainability and protect their customers from greenwashing.

The Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s Independent Inspector conducted more than 139 audits in 2022, guaranteeing the continued integrity of the Association’s Accreditation Schemes. In the process he inspected over 1,500 labels, tested over 507 product lines and physically tested 4,170 individual products. Compliance continued to be high, each Scheme achieving over 90%.
“Our members are being hit hard by the soaring cost of both fuel and energy,” said Lorcan Mekitarian, chair of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA). “We need the chancellor to act in his statement on Friday, 23 September if they are to be able to reliably supply good quality cleaning and hygiene products for the long term. “We welcome the news that the Business Secretary is capping wholesale energy costs for businesses. However, certainty fosters growth and suggestions this support is limited to just six months does not provide it for the medium to long term.
Three talented young people are celebrating. Olivia Baker, Liam Shepherd and Rebecca Griffiths have been selected as the recipients of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association’s (CHSA) 2022 Undergraduate Bursary. Fourteen young people have benefited from the Bursary while at university since it was rejuvenated in 2016. Each receives £4,500, £1,500 being paid at the start of each academic year or the first three years if the degree is longer. Applicants were assessed by a Judging Panel, led by CHSA Vice President and Treasurer David Garcia, according to need, worthiness, endeavour, and overall performance.
Thanks to the generosity of its members and their guests, the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) raised approximately £5,000 at the Association’s Annual Gala Ball for Grief Encounter. Grief Encounter supports bereaved children and their families to help alleviate the pain caused by the death of someone close.
