The 31st edition of the BACnet Europe Journal features a preface by Karl Heinz Belser – member of the BIG-EU Executive Board and Key Account Manager of Building Technologies & Solutions at Johnson Controls Systems & Service GmbH – as well as detailed articles on elevator technology connected via BACnet at the Manchester Airport, BACnet reference projects such as the One Albert Quay in Ireland, SHiFT Paris, the US High School in Kaiserlautern and the hospital, Spital Muri, in Switzerland. In the “Technology” section, cloud-ready BACnet controllers and a practical approach to cyber security in building automation are highlighted.
BACnet mandatory for BLB NRW
The “Insight” section deals with BACnet specifications and BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) – Bernhard Isler, ASHRAE member, Head of the Application Profiles working group in the BACnet Committee, and System Architect at Siemens Schweiz AG, reports from the BACnet Committee and working group meetings: “The aim is to publish the BACnet/SC addendum before the end of this year.” In the BACnet News section, readers catch a glimpse into why the Construction and Real Estate Office of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (BLB NRW) considers BACnet to be mandatory, and also provides insight into the new digital exhibition of the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) at Light + Building 2020.
The BACnet Europe Journal is the European magazine for building automation which is based on BACnet technology. Experts, practitioners and professionals show the way for how to develop and apply the BACnet standard – from building automation trends to devices and application projects; from qualification and training, to testing and certification; from Who’s Who in the BACnet community to useful information on events and publications. Special attention is given to the members and activities of the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU).
About the BIG-EU
The BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) promotes the application of the global BACnet communication standard ISO 16484-5 in building automation and security technology in Europe. It was founded in 1998 by 18 building automation companies and currently has over 130 members from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and the USA. The objectives of the BIG-EU are the perception of European interests in the development of the BACnet standard. There is also an exchange of information with the BACnet-responsible ASHRAE committee “SSPC 135” and the American BACnet community.
