Union Industries has manufactured its largest ever rapid roll freezer door as part of a multi-door project for a giant distribution centre on the south coast. The Yorkshire-based manufacturer has supplied six of its Eiger Doors to Uniserve’s new 750,000 square foot ambient and freezer distribution centre less than a quarter of a mile from the Port of Felixstowe. Located on a 28-acre site, the multi-million-pound fulfilment centre, which is opening in summer 2021, will be BRC food grade accredited, bonded for both wet and dry goods in transit. Amongst its facilities will be a 100,000 square foot cold store and an 17,000 pallet spaces of frozen storage.

Businesses are being urged to ‘act quickly’ and turn their waste into revenue as cardboard prices in the UK hit new heights. According to figures from letsrecycle.com, cardboard prices are at their highest since their records began 20 years ago, with dry bales of cardboard commanding between £120 and £138 per tonne at UK mills in July 2021.
